Lopez Loves AHS Volunteers!

"I had no idea what to expect and was delighted to see how the work fit me, that I found my own level of energy and perseverance, and after a day or two, got into a good rhythm with the work. It wasn't anything I coldn't handle, and I found I was performing tasks I had no idea I wold enjoy as much as I did. Everyone pitched in. No one complained. And it was an experience I will never forget. The camping was fun --tent sleeping and community cooking and making lunches, and lots of laughter. My recommendation: Just do it. It will be so satisfying! " -

The sum is greater than the parts! Being part of a volunteer trailbuilding/trail maintenance crew for a week is something nearly everyone can do.

Most daytrippers don't, however. And that's where AHS volunteers come in, to the aid of hardworking, often understaffed land use agencies (national and state parks, forests, and wilderness, the BLM) as well as trail organizations.

WELCOME TO LOPEZ ISLAND!
